Everything you need to know about PhotoWeather accounts, subscription tiers, and billing.

The free PhotoWeather account includes:

  • 1 location for tracking weather
  • 3 active rule assignments
  • Forecast refreshes about every 6 hours
  • 3-day weather forecasts
  • Email notifications and calendar integration
  • Basic rule templates
  • Core advanced conditions: Fog Probability, Frost Probability, Golden Hour Potential, Aurora Quality (basic)
  • Full access to dashboard and mobile-friendly interface

You can upgrade to a Pro subscription at any time from Account Settings. The Pro plan ($6.49/month or $49.99/year) includes 15 locations, hourly updates, 14-day forecasts, and advanced visualization charts.

If you reach your account limits:

  • Cannot create new locations: You’ll need to upgrade when available
  • Cannot add new rules: Existing rules continue working normally
  • Existing functionality: All current locations and rules remain active
  • All features accessible: Notifications, calendar sync, and dashboard access continue working

PhotoWeather stores minimal data required for the service:

1) Account & Subscription:

  • Email address, password (hashed and salted: non-reversible encryption), timezone
  • Plan type and basic billing identifiers (subscription status, invoices)

2) App Content & Settings:

  • Locations you add (coordinates and names)
  • Rules/criteria you configure and notification preferences
  • Related metadata necessary to operate the Service

3) Forecast Queries & Technical Logs:

  • Requests to fetch weather forecasts (coordinates/time ranges)
  • Timestamps, device/browser metadata, IP address (coarse)
  • Error/security logs for system reliability

4) Payments (via processor):

  • Payment status (success/fail, plan, invoice metadata)
  • We do NOT store full payment card details (handled by Stripe)

5) Communications:

  • Support emails, feedback, and marketing communications (if opted in)

We do NOT store:

  • Personal location data beyond what you explicitly add
  • Special categories of personal data
  • Browsing history or tracking data
  • Any data not directly related to weather notifications

No. All your data is completely private:

  • Your locations are visible only to you
  • Your rules and preferences are private
  • Your opportunities and notifications are not shared
  • No social features or data sharing with other users

To delete your PhotoWeather account:

  1. Go to Account Settings in your dashboard
  2. Scroll to the Account Management section
  3. Click Delete Account
  4. Confirm the deletion

What gets deleted:

  • All account data (locations, rules, preferences)
  • Email subscriptions and notifications
  • Calendar feed access (feeds become inactive)
  • All associated data within 30 days

Yes, PhotoWeather has a generous free tier that includes core functionality with 1 location, 3 active rules, and 3-day forecasts. This free tier will always be available.

The Pro plan ($6.49/month or $49.99/year) unlocks the full PhotoWeather experience:

  • 15 locations
  • 100 active rule assignments
  • Hourly forecast updates
  • 14-day weather forecasts
  • Advanced conditions visualization charts
  • Directional weather intelligence
  • Multi-model confidence scoring

No. If you downgrade from Pro to Free:

  • Your data is preserved (locations, rules, preferences)
  • Excess locations and rules are disabled but not deleted
  • You can re-enable them by upgrading again
  • No data loss occurs

Calendar feeds use secure, randomly-generated tokens:

  • Unique URLs: Each location gets a cryptographically secure token
  • No personal data: URLs don’t contain personal information
  • Regeneration: You can deactivate and create new tokens anytime
  • Access control: Only users with the exact URL can access the feed

Change email:

  1. Go to Account Settings
  2. Update email address
  3. Verify the new email address

Change password:

  1. Go to Account Settings
  2. Click Change Password
  3. Enter current password and new password
  4. Confirm the change

Reset your password:

  1. Go to the login page
  2. Click Forgot Password
  3. Enter your email address
  4. Check email for reset instructions
  5. Follow the secure reset link

Troubleshooting steps:

  1. Check email verification: Ensure your email is verified
  2. Password reset: Try resetting your password
  3. Clear browser data: Clear cookies and cache for photoweather.app
  4. Try different browser: Test with a different browser or incognito mode

Check these items:

  1. Spam folder: Account emails might be filtered
  2. Email address: Ensure it’s correctly entered
  3. Email provider: Some providers block automated emails
  4. Account verification: Check if your email needs verification
