iCal Setup

Calendar integration automatically adds photography opportunities to your calendar, making it easy to plan shoots and never miss perfect conditions. This guide covers setting up iCal feeds with all major calendar applications.

Automatic Scheduling:

  1. PhotoWeather detects perfect conditions at your locations
  2. Calendar events are created with weather details and timing
  3. Your calendar app syncs the events automatically
  4. You get reminders through your normal calendar notifications

What’s Included in Calendar Events:

  • Location name
  • Rule name
  • Precise timing (start time, duration, end time)
  • Configurable event alarms for advance notification (set in your calendar app)
  1. Log in to your PhotoWeather dashboard
  2. Click on Calendar
  3. Click “New Subscription” button
  4. Enter token name (optional)
  5. Select locations (optional, empty selection includes all locations)
  6. Copy the iCal URL

Your calendar feed URL:

  • Contains a unique secure token specific to your account
  • Cannot be guessed or accessed by others
  • Can be revoked at any time to disable access

Keep your feed URL private:

  • Don’t share the URL publicly
  • Deactivate tokens you no longer need

iPhone/iPad:

  1. CalendarCalendars (at the bottom) → AddAdd Subscription Calendar
  2. Paste your PhotoWeather iCal URL
  3. Save and choose a distinctive name and color

Mac:

  1. Calendar appFileNew Calendar Subscription
  2. Paste your PhotoWeather iCal URLSubscribe
  3. Set refresh to 15 minutes and choose name/color
  1. Go to calendar.google.com
  2. Click ”+” next to “Other calendars”“From URL”
  3. Paste your PhotoWeather iCal URL“Add Calendar”
  4. Mobile apps automatically sync the subscribed calendar

Web App:

  1. outlook.live.comAdd calendarSubscribe from web
  2. Paste your PhotoWeather iCal URL and choose name/color

Desktop App:

  3. Set refresh to 15 minutes

Most calendar apps support iCal subscriptions. Look for:

  • “Subscribe to Calendar”
  • “Add Calendar Subscription”
  • “Import from URL”

Then paste your PhotoWeather iCal URL.
